Shark Beast 2: Paranormal Sharkitivity ReviewWelcome back to Parrot's Cove! Guess who's back?
The Shark Beast is back with a paranormal twist in this scary/fun sequel. This time around it involves a Hollywood film crew that's making the movie version of the original story's terrible events. The characters are a bit more fleshed out and still has plenty of teenager-munching, more sexy bits, and a little more development on the "paranormal" mystery hinted at in the first Shark Beast. Plus, some Hollywood satire -- especially fun were the hilarious movie company's "fake" film titles...
Russ Cooper is good with action sequences, my favorite in this one being the guy trapped in the car with two vain just-bailed-out-of-jail Goth chicks and a certain uninvited tentacled hitchhiker. There's also a surreal David Lynch(?) Tim Burton(?) style paranormal underwater sequence that hints at more mystery to come.
The bonus "short story" within the story -- which is shaping up as a tradition of sorts in this series -- is again very entertaining! "The Glob" from the first book was a highlight, and this one takes place at a haunted bar. It kind of reminds me of Stephen King's "The Body" where the one character reads his stories out loud...
There's also a bit of a love story for the ladies and for the guys there's the aforementioned Goth girls, a couple of "ambitious" college actresses, and an out-of-control former A-list actress just released from rehab...
Shark beast 3 -- bring it!Shark Beast 2: Paranormal Sharkitivity OverviewIn this popular sequel, young sexy film-makers come to Parrot's Cove to make a quickie exploitation "Shark Beast" movie on the very beach where the actual attacks took place a year ago.Distracted by cheesy film-making and sexy behind-the-scenes antics, they don't count on the shark beast's return. Also included: "sneak peeks" of four other Russ Cooper books --the original "Shark Beast," "Girl On A Laptop," "Vampire Lake," and "By All Means, Rome."-----RC writes two kinds of books -- rich Hitchcockian mysteries ("Girl On A Laptop" and "By All Means, Rome") and zippy Roger Corman-esque creature-features. Guess which category the "Shark Beast" series fits? The second in the shark beast trilogy mixes Hollywood satire, sexy characters, and lots of munching, this time adding a bit of a "Twins Peaks" vibe to the paranormal bits hinted at in the first one. Includes a set-piece reminiscent of the trapped-in-a-car brilliant climax in "Cujo."----Other Books By Russ Cooper:SHARK BEAST -- A strange shark-like creature that can attack above and below ground as well as in the water causes havoc one Halloween night at Parrot's Cove boardwalk. GIRL ON A LAPTOP -- A girl hiding under a brass bed with a laptop sends a desperate message to a stranger on New Year's Eve.But is her plea for help real, or a drunken computer prank--and can young Phoebe afford to take the chance that there might be a madman on the loose?BONFIRE OF THE VAMPIRES -- For the first time ever, the epic sexy sweeping mystery of love, deceit, unforeseen betrayals, well-laid traps, magic and strange creatures is available for the first time in this remarkable--and exclusive--expanded ripe and lustrous special edition, a sumptuous adventure of escapism and wonder, conveniently available, exclusively on Amazon.VAMPIRE LAKE -- A twisted couple plot a murder... a little too close to Vampire Lake.BY ALL MEANS, ROME -- Somewhere in Rome is hidden a priceless wine bottle. A feisty American girl and a mysterious wine-taster join forces, solve clues, juggle romance and race mysterious villains to find the ages lost treasure.
