Binker's New Tenants (The Binker Chronicles) ReviewThis was a very warm and cosy read, full of twists and unexpected treasures. One thing I particularly liked was that the adults were a part of the discovering of something different. As a parent and avid reader I get a bit tired of the notion that only children and teenagers have the mental agility to solve problems and fusty old grown-ups must be kept in the dark.Binky is a wonderful character - I especially loved the water skiing incident and the way his nuts turn up everywhere. And then there is Anna's long suffering father who finds the strange chickens and takes everyone to see them. He embraces his daughter's world and expands it with her.
I nearly forgot Haminal, the kids loved Haminal. He deserves a mention but I won't say any more because I don't want to ruin it.
I like the warmth of this book, and it's colourful characters, and the sheer fun of it. It held the attention of my four year old even though we read it over several days - you can't ask for more than that.
I give it ten wombats on a curtain rail out of ten (you'll have to read the book...)
Binker's New Tenants (The Binker Chronicles) OverviewWhen Anna and her mother and father and baby brother move into their new home, the last thing that they expect to find is a squirrel building a hot-tub in their attic. As if that wasn't enough, he also turns out to be their landlord; and that's only the beginning of the adventure...Binker's New Tenants is a full-length Kindle book with 13 original illustrations. Written in a gently humorous style, it is certain to prove immensely enjoyable both to those who read it and those who have it read to them.Recommended to anyone of any age who can still remember what it is like to be not-quite-grown-up.
