Rendezvous Rock ReviewAnother quality review....Reviewed by: "REVIEW IT!", Ann Brown, with Marilyn A. Hudson Rating: 9 out of 10
Comments: There are times - special and rare - when you pick up a book and just reading the first line is such a pleasure you are hooked. "Eric carved, Susan watched, and the rock didn't care." From that first sentence, Rickey Bray, proceeds to lead the reader into a rich wonderland of the imagination. While on vacation in the mountains, Eric encounters an unusual and captivating girl with emerald eyes whose destiny is fraught with both magic and mystery. Eric and the girl are plunged into an odyssey where both delight and danger lurk around nearly every corner. Using the rich potential of the language the author develops characters, situations, and ideas that are satisfying on a multitude of levels. The rich, vibrant, often poetic use of the English language is a delight that immediately sets the work apart. The characters are real, well developed, and likable. The situations are constructed to be - even when dealing with the fantastic - immensely believable. A highly recommended addition to any reading collection, especially those who enjoy fantasy, adventure, and romance.
[...]Rendezvous Rock OverviewWitches are never young. We come, we go, we return again, but we are never young. To be a witch is to be as old as the forests,as old as life itself. While vacationing in the mountains, Eric meets an unusual girl, Susan, who has sparkling, emerald eyes that are so unusually captivating. They are a unique, singular shade of green and seem to be imbued with an ancient fire that even a spoiled, youthfully unperceptive Eric could easily feel. He senses a strange maturity about this mysterious girl and is drawn to her like a magnet.“When I said we would never be married, I meant in your way," Susan said. “Will you marry me in my way? Right now?"Even though numerous questions clamored in his head, Eric easily replied, “Of course."Eric's answer was far too easy in Susan's opinion. As she mused over his quick reply, she speculated on how to best explain their strange situation in terms that he could understand, an impossibility to do beforehand. He would have to commit himself, and then learn the truth. It was unfair to the extreme, yet unavoidable under these very peculiar circumstances, and thus Eric is drawn into the mysterious world of The Three Circles.Reviewed by Victoria Gonzales for Reader Views (7/09):"The initial chapters of this novel are blissfully illusory; what begins as a slightly complicated, silly love story, twists into an exciting apocalyptic epic very quickly. The author weaves together many diverse characters into a complex, but understandable tale. A prophecy is made that a child will be born who will bring the human race to a new era, but this child has many enemies. One moonlit night, young lovers promise themselves to each other, binding their love, but one is unaware of what this promise will mean, and how long they will have to wait to be with each other again. They both seem to be up to the task and their story continues with romance, drama, action, adventure, and mystery. There is a little bit of everything in this intelligent book; it is very interesting to see how it unfolds. The main characters, Eric and Susan, are very well developed and you will not be able to stop reading until you find out what happens to them. They face many obstacles, Eric must learn how to be a warrior, and Susan must complete a difficult journey across many miles on foot. The fate of Eric and Susan and their love has been prophesied, but they still have a choice, and there is a chance one or both of them will not survive to see each other again. “Rickey Bray writes with confidence and an interesting style; it is almost as if he is learning about the characters along with you when he confides bits of information to you in asides. I really enjoyed this book; what drew me to it was the author's background. The short biography states that his tragedy led to the start of his prolific writing career and I absolutely agree. His writing is beautiful and touching, and at the same time thrilling and smart. The story is entirely unexpected, and is perfect for those who want to read a good love story, or who are interested in fantasy and adventure. I recommend it to anyone who is tired of reading books that are easy to put down and forget about. You will not be able to do that with this book, so set aside some time to read “Rendezvous Rock" soon." - Linda Gonzoles, ReaderViewsSee youtube video about Rendevous Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsUSmRFp2kM&feature=player_embedded ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Oklahoman Rickey Bray became a writer after a series of personal tragedies.
